People: who can sign in, and who can be paged
Inviting people, admins and members, seats, and mobile numbers for calls.
Standby keeps two lists, and it helps to know which is which:
- People with access (Settings): who can sign in. Each is a seat.
- On-call → People: who can be paged, with the mobile number Standby rings. Rotations are built from this list.
Inviting someone
- Go to Settings → People with access and choose Invite someone.
- Enter their Email and Name, and choose Member or Admin. Admins can invite and remove people and manage billing; everything else is the same.
- Choose Send invitation. They get an email with a temporary password, which lasts 24 hours, and take up a seat from today.
Changing access
Choose a person to Make admin or Make member, Disable or Re-enable them, or Remove them.
- Disable stops them signing in and frees their seat, but keeps their history and their place on rotations.
- Remove deletes their sign-in, and can't be undone.
- The last admin can't be demoted, disabled or removed. Make someone else an admin first.
Plans bill for at least 5 seats. See Billing.
Adding a mobile number for calls
- Go to On-call → People and choose Add someone. Refresh from Amazon Connect pulls in names and numbers from your instance.
- Choose Who (they need to have been invited first), and enter their Mobile with the country code, starting with
+.
Quiet hours
On the same form, tick Quiet hours and choose From and To, such as 10 pm to 7 am, in the person's own timezone (set Their timezone first). During those hours, rules set to Push, then call send them a quiet notification instead of ringing. Rules set to call even during quiet hours still ring, for the things worth waking someone for.
The Reachable column shows how each person can be reached: Push and phone, Push only, Phone only or Nobody. A number shows not proven yet until someone answers a real page or drill on it.
