Remove Standby
What happens when you delete the stack, and what to do first.
-
Check for queue changes still in force. When you delete the stack, Standby puts back any cap or closure that's still in force before it lets go of your instance. It's worth undoing them yourself first anyway: in the Standby app, Settings → Actions in force → Undo now. Then nothing depends on the last minute.
-
Delete the stack in CloudFormation. It tells Standby the workspace has left, then removes everything it created: the role, the forwarder, the paging flow, the always-closed hours and the table.
What happens to your data
- Straight away: Standby stops all work for the workspace, and nobody can sign in.
- If you're on a paid plan: removing the stack only disconnects Standby. Your workspace is kept and your subscription continues until you cancel it; install again and everything is still there.
- Once nothing is paying for it (you're on a trial, or your subscription has ended): the workspace and everyone's accounts are deleted 30 days later. Install again within those 30 days and everything is still there. Before then, an admin can download the workspace's data from Settings.
- The audit trail is kept until its normal retention ends (90 days on Team, 400 on Business), because it can't be edited or deleted early by anyone, including us.
Billing is separate, so removing the stack doesn't stop it: cancel your plan under Settings → Plan and billing in the console. See Billing, cancellation and refunds.
