Readiness and practice drills

Find out whether tonight would reach someone, and prove it.

Readiness

Audit → Readiness answers one question: if something broke now, would somebody be reached? It shows Ready, At risk or Not ready, with the reasons, worst first:

  • Figures are arriving from Amazon Connect.
  • Workspace-wide incidents (such as figures stopping) have a rotation to go to.
  • Every live rule reaches a rotation.
  • Everyone on a rotation can be reached.
  • Phone calls are set up: the stack has a paging number.
  • No rule is set up in a way that can never fire.
  • A drill has been run in the last 30 days.

If a finding is how you want things, choose Accept this. It stays listed but stops counting, and comes back if it changes.

Practice drills

A drill opens a real incident, marked as practice, and pages exactly who a real one would, phone calls included.

  1. Go to Audit → Practice drill.
  2. Choose the rule to drill (or Standby's own workspace-wide incidents), the queue if it watches every queue, and when: at least 2 minutes ahead, at most 30 days.
  3. Check the preview of who it will page, then book it.

Whoever is reached acknowledges it as they would a real incident: in the app, or by pressing 1 on the call. The result shows who answered and how long it took. Run one after any big change to a rotation.
